Kim Christensen is a Santa Barbara local who recently moved back "home" from San Francisco, where she lived and worked since 2004. After graduating from UC Berkeley in 2003 with high honors and high distinction, Kim pursued her graduate education in Communicative Disorders at San Francisco State University where she earned her Master's degree 2007 and began her career as a speech-language pathologist. In 2012, she founded SF Speech for Kids!, a bustling pediatric speech/language therapy clinic in San Francisco. Kim and her growing family have settled in Santa Barbara, and Kim is excited to reinvent her practice on a smaller scale. Kim has extensive pediatric experience serving ages 1-18, as well as adults with various disabilities and communication disorders. Kim has training in SCERTS, DIR/Floortime, Hanen More Than Words, PROMPT, The Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol, Oral Placement Therapy, The Lidcombe Program, and SATPAC. Kim enjoys Kim enjoys working with children with complex communication disorders and nonverbal children. She has extensive experience with autism and has a special interest in supporting and educating parents in the early stages of learning about their child's autism diagnosis. Variety is one of the things Kim loves most about this profession and she has recently added accent reduction classes to her offerings, which allows her to bring her skills to professionals and students who have a goal of improving their English pronunciation.
