MEET KIM

Kim Christensen brings nearly twenty years of experience to her practice. She has spent most of her career working with children, diagnosing and treating speech and language disorders, collaborating with families, and maintaining the highest standard of care for her clients in her bustling clinic, SF Speech for Kids! In 2022, Kim and her growing family moved back to her hometown and established a hybrid practice, offering services both in her home-based office in Santa Barbara and on Zoom.
After graduating from UC Berkeley in 2003 with high honors and high distinction, Kim pursued her graduate education in Communicative Disorders at San Francisco State University where she earned her Master's degree 2007 and began her career as a speech-language pathologist. In 2012, she founded SF Speech for Kids!, and also worked part time for JumpStart Learning to Learn, a parent-training program offered by the Autism Center of Northern California. Kim has extensive pediatric experience serving ages 1-18, as well as adults with various disabilities and communication disorders. Kim has training in SCERTS, DIR/Floortime, Hanen More Than Words, PROMPT, The Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol, Dynamic Tactile and Temporal Cueing (DTTC), Oral Placement Therapy, The Lidcombe Program, and SATPAC. Kim enjoys working with children with complex communication disorders and nonverbal children. She has extensive experience with autism and has a special interest in supporting and educating parents in the early stages of learning about their child's autism diagnosis.
Variety is one of the things Kim loves most about this profession and she has recently added accent reduction classes to her offerings, which allows her to bring her skills to professionals and students who have a goal of improving their English pronunciation. Whatever the communication goal may be for yourself or your child, give Kim a call!
